Admission Requirements

a. Grade Levels and Age Requirements

  • Registration is open for students from grades 8 to 12, aged 13 to 18 at the time of enrollment.

b. Language Proficiency Requirements

  • The application must comply with Section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
  • For applicants entering grade 10 or 11 who wish to obtain their high school diploma at the CSF in grade 12, a minimum level of oral and written proficiency in both French and English will be required to ensure their success and continuation of studies in Canada.

c. Other Admission Requirements

  • Our school board aims to provide international students with a rewarding and unforgettable experience by creating the conditions needed for their success.
  • Admission to the CSF International Student Program is by invitation and is based on the applicant's motivation, as well as their academic, linguistic, social, and personal skills. Each applicant’s acceptance and school placement will depend on these criteria and the availability of spots.
  • Students are encouraged to submit their application as early as possible due to the limited number of spots available in the program.
Required Documents

Mandatory documents to be submitted during registration

Note: The requested document pages must be scanned into a single PDF or JPEG file not exceeding 15 MB.

  • A photocopy of the photo page of your passport.
  • A copy of the birth certificate accompanied by a certified translation in French if the document is in a language other than French or English.
  • A copy of your transcripts from the past two years, along with a certified translation in French if the documents are in a language other than French or English.
  • The list of vaccines with the names and dates of vaccination.
  • A motivation letter from the student, 300 to 500 words, preferably written in French, otherwise in English.
  • A recommendation letter from a teacher or school principal.
  • A color photocopy of the student (passport-style photo in PDF or JPEG format).
  • A photo album to introduce yourself. No more than 5 photos.
Registration Process

Admission to the CSF International Student Program is by invitation and is based on the applicant's motivation, as well as their academic, linguistic, social, and personal skills. Each applicant’s acceptance and school placement will depend on these criteria and the availability of spots.

  • Before registering, please prepare the documents listed above, as you will need to upload them online when completing the form.
  • Note: The requested document pages must be scanned into a single PDF or JPEG file not exceeding 15 MB.

  • Once your documents are ready, apply by completing the form available on the secure True North platform by clicking on the "Sign Up" link. You can securely upload your documents there.
  • A non-refundable registration fee of CAD $300must be paid before submitting the online application.
  • Note: The application will only be considered once the online form is completed, the required documents are submitted to the CSF, and the registration fee is paid.

  • A remote interview via Zoom or Teams will be arranged with the student and their parents to assess the level of French, finalize the application, and answer any questions.
  • Your application will be reviewed within 10 business days, and an admission offer to the program will be sent within 3 weeks. You will receive an email from True North asking you to log into your True North account to access the documents and invoice. Make sure to check your emails from True North.
  • First, you will receive provisional documents to verify the accuracy of the student’s information, along with a detailed quote. Once you confirm the accuracy of the information, we will finalize the registration and send you the final invoice.
  • Tuition and health insurance fees must be paid through the secure payment system Flywire.
  • Upon receipt of the payment, we will upload the documents to be signed to finalize the registration, along with the Letter of Acceptance (LOA) and the payment receipt, to your True North account.
  • You will then have all the necessary documents to apply for a study permit with IRCC.
Medical Insurance

Medical insurance is a mandatory requirement for all international students. It must be paid at the same time as the tuition fees at the CSF.

During their first few months in Canada, international students are covered by our health insurance provider, Guard.Me, and then by the provincial MSP insurance for students enrolled for more than 5 months in our schools.

Guard.Me and MSP provide comprehensive coverage that meets the needs of each of our students.

Guard.Me

  • Guard.Me is a private insurance plan for students who do not have MSP coverage.

BC Medical Services Plan (MSP)

  • MSP is a mandatory public health insurance administered by Health Insurance BC.
  • The MSP card must be presented every time you have a medical appointment.

Medical coverage for each program

  • Students enrolled in the "Expérience langues et cultures" program for a period of 5 months or less: Guard.Me coverage.
  • Students enrolled in the "Expérience langues et cultures" program for a period of 10 months: Guard.Me coverage, followed by MSP coverage, provided the student holds a valid study permit.
  • Students enrolled in the "Cap sur l’avenir" program: Guard.Me coverage, followed by MSP coverage, provided the student holds a valid study permit.

Important Information 

Availability is limited and spots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, it is recommended to complete the application process as soon as possible. 

Applicants should also be aware that the application process with IRCC can take up to 4 months or more. Under normal circumstances, complete files are processed within 2 to 7 weeks. 

The absence of original documents or certified copies, or any incomplete application, will result in a delay in processing. All original documents will be returned to the applicant. 

In addition to the required official documents, it is recommended to submit other supporting materials, such as a study plan, letters of recommendation, and a handwritten motivation letter explaining why the student wishes to continue their studies at the CSF.
