Intermediary education program

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Intermediary Education Program (IEP) emphasizes intellectual challenges. It encourages students aged 11 to 16 to make concrete connections between their education and the real world, thus preparing them for success in their post-secondary education and their future lives.

Why choose the IEP?

Research shows that students enrolled in the IEP:

  • gain the self-confidence they need to take charge of their own learning;
  • learn by doing, allowing them to make connections between the classroom and the broader world;
  • consistently achieve better grades on IB diploma program examinations;
  • develop an understanding of global issues and become engaged as responsible citizens.

In the Diploma Program, teaching and learning are organized around six subject groups, which are based on the core curriculum.

Students are required to choose one course in each of the groups. You can find out more about the six subject groups on the IB program website.

At the end of the Diploma Program, students must take written exams in most of these courses. Also, in a number of subjects, they must complete projects that are graded externally. The requirements of the three components of the Diploma Program core curriculum include the completion of projects.

The Diploma Program curriculum is rigorous and balanced. It promotes students’ intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being, and is recognized by universities throughout the world.

Work experience

Grade 12 students in some CSF schools have the opportunity to gain practical skills in the restaurant industry or in video production.

This work experience course allows students who are about to graduate to accumulate credits while learning specialized vocational skills and in some cases pursuing a passion!
