It is an exciting time for teaching and learning in our School District as we pursue our goal of helping all students to develop the skills to become learners, thinkers, innovators, collaborators and contributors. These are the attributes of a Conseil scolaire francophone learner that have been determined as being necessary for success in the 21st century.

As we pursue our educational goals, we recognize the importance of creating 21st century learning competencies in an environment that provides tools for students that are relevant to their daily lives. To that end, we are committed to providing all students access to digital technologies that will empower their learning and better prepare students to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

As a result, the Conseil scolaire francophone has been working with various partners to create digital collaboration systems that will connect students, parents and teachers. These systems will provide access to educational programming and learning resources anytime, anywhere in a safe and secure environment.

Important note: All cloud platforms proposed by CSF comply with British Columbia FOIPPA legislation.

While recognizing the benefits of supporting digital literacy in learning environments, we must also be aware of the potential impacts of sharing digital information online and the necessity to protect our students’ personal information regardless of where it is stored or accessed. As a public institution, we are subject to the BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Adobe Creative Cloud

The Conseil scolaire francophone de la C.-B. is implementing a resource called Adobe Creative Cloud, an enterprise solution that provides a set of applications used for graphic design, video editing, web development, photography and various cloud services.

Usage of Adobe Creative Cloud involves a collection and use of personal information authorized by the School Act and section 26 of the BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. In accordance with this Act, we must at all times protect the privacy of students under our care. The following information is required to login and use this platform: name, date of birth, email, address and country.

Student data is stored and web applications are executed on servers that reside in the United States of America. Here is a list of applications that are used via a web browser: Adobe Dreamweaver CC, Adobe Fireworks, Adobe Muse CC, Adobe Edge Animate, Adobe Edge Inspect, Adobe Edge Reflow (Preview), Adobe Edge Web Fonts, Adobe Scout and Adobe Gaming SDK.

Student accounts will be activated and will allow the usage the following software that would be installed on student laptops or tablets (if possible): Adobe Acrobat CC, Adobe After Effects CC, Adobe Animate CC, Adobe Audition CC, Adobe Character Animator CC, Adobe Dimension CC, Adobe Illustrator CC, Adobe InDesign CC, Adobe Lightroom CC, Adobe Photoshop et Adobe Premiere Pro CC.

Cantook Education

The Conseil scolaire francophone de la C.-B. is implementing a platform called Cantook Education (https://projetbiblius.ca/en/ ) that allows access to eBooks and online magazines. Cantook Education is an e-book lending platform that allows searches in the e-collection and lets you browse the virtual shelves of the digital library. It includes features developed to facilitate use of the e-books for teaching purposes and it enables generation of detailed statistics on the e-collection.

As a public institution, we are subject to the BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. In accordance with this Act, we must at all times protect the privacy of students under our care. The Cantook Education platform collects account information from students which includes their name, email and gender.

The Conseil scolaire francophone will only offer Cantook Education to those who are confirmed as enrolled students. Data on this platform is stored and accessed in Canada.

Clevr

The Conseil scolaire francophone de la C.-B. is implementing a resource called Clevr (https://www.weareclevr.ca/), an enterprise solution that allows districts to build, distribute and process online forms and digital workflows for any department or school-based team. Clevr is a Canadian company offering its software solution from small independent schools to large school boards, with over 100 clients in the K-12 education sector.

Accessed via a secure website, the Clevr platform can handle the automation for any type of form including but not limited to student forms, staff forms, school forms, district-wide forms and regional forms. The purpose of the Clevr platform is to collect the data that supports evidence-based decisions around instructional models, strategies and methods.

As a public institution, we are subject to the BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. In accordance with this Act, we must at all times protect the privacy of students under our care. The Clevr platform collects registration and account information from students which includes names, email address, school, student numbers, enrolled courses and grade, as well as any other information entered into the forms. Clevr will only offer their services to those who are confirmed as enrolled students at the Conseil scolaire francophone. Their personal information will be disclosed, stored and accessed in Canada.

Follett Destiny

The Conseil scolaire francophone de la C.-B. is implementing a platform called Follett Destiny. Follett Destiny is a library management system that can be accessed online. This platform manages and catalogs books, e-books, audiobooks and all other media (physical or electronic).

As a public institution, we are subject to BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. In accordance with this Act, we must at all times protect the privacy of the students who are in our care. Follett Destiny collects students’ account information in order to leverage the platform’s full potential. Following is a list of the information collected: name, nickname, email address, date of birth, year of graduation, grade and homeroom.

The Conseil scolaire francophone will only offer their services to those who are confirmed as enrolled students on Follett Destiny’s’ platform. Data on this platform is stored and accessed in Canada.

Librairie Chenelière

The Conseil scolaire francophone is implementing an educational resource called Librairie Chenelière (https://www.cheneliere.ca). Librairie Chenelière is a francophone publisher specialized in education including preschool and university. Chenelière Éducation partners with ministries of education in all provinces and territories in Canada. They offer educational resources for francophones and for educators that teach French. Their manuals for primary and high school are all approved by the province or territory in which it is distributed. Documents written by teachers, counselors, specialists are also available for parents and or guardians.

As a public institution, we are subject to BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. In accordance with this Act, we must at all times protect the privacy of the students who are in our care. Librairie Chenelière collects students’ account information in order to leverage the platform’s full potential. Following is a list of the information collected: name, nickname, email address, grade, country, district name, institution and school name.

ManageBac

The Conseil scolaire francophone de la C.-B. is implementing a resource called ManageBac (https://www.managebac.com), a leading online learning platform for International Baccalaureate schools. ManageBac enables efficient curriculum planning, assessment and reporting, while eliminating paperwork and enhancing communication to parents and students. It allows our students to communicate with teachers more efficiently.

As a public institution, we are subject to BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. In accordance with this Act, we must at all times protect the privacy of the students who are in our care.

The ManageBac platform collects registration and account information from students which includes first and last name, grade, email address, student number, gender, date of birth, languages, nationality, IBIS personal code, school name and code, student activities and work submissions, grades, courses and university list. Personal data will be used by ManageBac for the purposes of providing international education systems for curriculum planning, assessment, reporting, admissions, activities management, transport management and online payments and related services for students, parents, schools and exam boards. ManageBac will only offer their services to those who are confirmed as enrolled students at the Conseil scolaire francophone. Their personal information will be disclosed, stored and accessed in Canada by Amazon Web Services Canada.

Managed Apple ID

The Conseil scolaire francophone de la C.-B. is implementing on online resource called Managed Apple ID. This platform would allow users to connect to shared iPads and access cloud-based services provided by Apple. These services include, but are not limit to, iCloud, Schoolwork and collaborative online tools such as Pages, Numbers and Keynote. Managed Apple IDs provide 200 Gb of storage space on iCloud. These services can be used by educators to facilitate teaching and collaborate with schoolwork for students. Device backups, files, settings and more can also be enabled, both on iPads and Macs.

Usage of Managed Apple ID involves a collection and use of personal information authorized by the School Act and section 26 of the BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. In accordance with this Act, we must at all times protect the privacy of students under our care. The following is the required information to login and use this platform: name, email, location, role and enrolled classes for the ClassRoom application. Information is stored and application run on servers in the United States of America that are managed by Apple, Google (Google Cloud and Google Datacenter) or Amazon (Amazon Web Services).

Moozoom

The Conseil scolaire francophone de la C.-B. is implementing an education resource called Moozoom (https://www.moozoom.ca) to help support students with social emotional learning and managing their emotions and well-being. The online Moozoom tools are used both by teachers and students.

Accessible via a secure website on any browser, Moozoom provides with tools to manage, name and identify emotions and provides hands on strategies to support students’ social emotional learning so they reach the full potential.

Teachers set up accounts on Moozoom for students, then provide a generic number to each their student to log in the Moozoom platform. Students are invited to document their learning in a personal journal within the platform. Teachers will be explicit with student expectations and acceptable uses of Moozoom for learning.

Student accounts make it easy to connect to the Moozoom platform, to uncover its content, and to reflect on what they have learned.

As a public institution, we are subject to the BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. In accordance with this Act, we must at all times protect the privacy of students under our care. The Moozoom service collects registration and account information from students which includes their name and last name, date of birth, grade, email address, gender, activities on the platform, answers to quizzes or forms, information about the school board, school and classroom and messages and comments.

Moozoom will only offer their services to those who are confirmed as enrolled students at the Conseil scolaire francophone. Their personal information will be disclosed, stored and accessed in Canada.

myBlueprint

The Conseil scolaire francophone de la C.-B. is implementing an education resource called myBlueprint (www.myblueprint.ca) to help support students with documenting their learning, planning their education, and making more informed decisions about their future. The online myBlueprint digital portfolio and career/life planning tools are used by thousands of schools across Canada to support curriculum and student success.

Accessible via a secure website on any browser, myBlueprint helps capture progress in the classroom and allows students to set goals, plan, and explore opportunities. Teachers set up classrooms with their students to manage, view, comment, and document their learning. Teachers will be explicit with student expectations and acceptable uses of myBlueprint for learning.

Student account allows them to easily connect, explore their skills and interests, reflect on their learning and, if they are in high school, have a complete list of their courses to plan for their graduation.

The myBlueprint service collects registration and account information from students which includes names, email address, phone numbers, school, student numbers, grade, enrolled courses, transcripts and marks. myBlueprint will only offer their services to those who are confirmed as enrolled students at the Conseil scolaire francophone. Their personal information will be disclosed, stored and accessed in Canada.

Office 365

The Conseil scolaire francophone provides all students a Microsoft Office 365 A3 account with 1 terabyte of online file storage for educational communication and class assignment storage purposes. Included in the A3 package are applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams and more.

Microsoft stores data at rest for the Office 365 A3 services for School District staff, teachers and students as indicated in the table below. Student’s account data (such as name, email address, grade level, and school name) and a student’s usage data (such as student emails and documents, calendar information, and any records created in the collaborative application suite) will not be accessible outside of Canada, unless noted in the table below or in very limited circumstances such as to allow Microsoft to troubleshoot technical issues or when staff are temporarily travelling outside of Canada and require access to information. While stored inside the country, information in your child’s Microsoft 365 A3 account is subject to Canadian personal information protection laws. The School District provides students with guidelines on the appropriate use of technology as per our District’s Use Policy.

Each student will have their own secure login and password to access their files. The School District will ensure that personal identifiable information (such as phone number or thumbnail photos) is not synced to the Azure Active Directory Premium data storage in the USA, that permits a single sign-on user experience. The creation and use of student email accounts involves a collection and use of personal information authorized by the School Act and section 26 of the BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. These tools may be used by educators to facilitate classroom instruction and student evaluation and they may also be used by students to collaborate on schoolwork (such as videos containing images of other students).

SchoolCashOnline

The Conseil scolaire francophone would like to offer a new easy to use and safe way to pay for school fees by providing access to an online tool called SchoolCashOnline. This system will allow parents to make secure payments with various payment methods and remove the need for children to carry cash or checks to and from the school.

As a public institution, we are subject to the BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. In accordance with this Act, we must at all times protect the privacy of students under our care. The SchoolCashOnline collects information from parents and students which includes your name, username, email address, phone number, grade, date of birth, school, student number, username, password and payment information and stores it on servers in Toronto ON at IBM.

SchoolCashOnline will only offer their services to those who are confirmed as enrolled students in the BC School District.

SchoolMessenger

The Conseil scolaire francophone provides access to a communication platform called SchoolMessenger, as well as its attendance module SafeArrival. These services will allow improved communication via email, phone, SMS (with subsequent opt-in required) and mobile applications for general announcements, emergencies and attendance notifications

SchoolMessenger is a product that is hosted in Montreal QC at Amazon Web Services where the student’s personal data (i.e. student identified by their first and last name, phone number, email, school and unique student reference number) will be stored.

In accordance with this Act, we must at all times protect the privacy of students under our care. The SchoolMessenger services collects registration and account information from parents and students which includes names, username, email address, phone numbers and school. SchoolMessenger will only offer their services to those who are confirmed as enrolled students at the Conseil scolaire francophone.

Scratch

The Conseil scolaire francophone de la C.-B. is implementing on online resource called Scratch. Scratch is a programming language and online tool that allows coding graphically and is mainly used as an educational resource. With Scratch, students can program their own interactive stories, games, and animations.

Usage of Scratch involves a collection and use of personal information authorized by the School Act and section 26 of the BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Scratch is not for profit platform designed, developed, and moderated by the Scratch Foundation. In accordance with this Act, we must at all times protect the privacy of students under our care. The following information is required to use the platform: email, country and date of birth. This information and all other data created on this application is stored and operated on servers in the United States of America.

Tap’Touche

The Conseil scolaire francophone is implementing an educational resource called Tap’Touche (https://www.taptouche.com/

). Tap’Touche is a simple and efficient web-based online typing tutor platform for beginners and intermediates.

In accordance with this Act, we must at all times protect the privacy of the students who are in our care. Tap’Touche collects students’ account information in order to leverage the platform’s full potential. The following is a list of the information collected: name and email.

TinkerCAD

The Conseil scolaire francophone de la C.-B. is implementing on online resource called TinkerCAD. TinkerCAD is an easy-to-use 3D modelling tool used for 3D printing, electronics and coding. It allows designers to imagine design and make anything. This online application can be used by educators to facilitate 3D design teaching.

Usage of TinkerCAD involves a collection and use of personal information authorized by the School Act and section 26 of the BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. In accordance with this Act, we must at all times protect the privacy of students under our care. TinkerCAD is a platform managed by Autodesk. The following information is required to use the platform: email, country and date of birth.

Turnitin

The Conseil scolaire francophone is implementing an educational resource called Turnitin (https://www.turnitin.com). Turnitin is an Internet-based plagiarism-detection service. Turnitin checks and archives millions of papers and uses its database and algorithms to identify plagiarized material. Universities, schools, and professional researchers and writers submit documents to Turnitin’s websites, which check the writing for originality against a comprehensive internet crawler, a database of proprietary content, and prior submissions. Submissions are compared to over 17 billion web pages, 200 million student papers, and over 100 million additional articles from content publishers, including library databases, textbooks, digital reference collections, subscription-based publications, homework helper sites and books.

In accordance with this Act, we must at all times protect the privacy of the students who are in our care. Turnitin collects students’ account information in order to leverage the platform’s full potential.
